This will be Brainstorm for a Cure’s third ‘Party for HOPE’. In 2014, Brainstorm for a Cure came to life when 39 year old brain cancer survivor (one of a tiny 5% of survivors) Sarah Mamalai, lost five dear friends to the same cruel disease as her own, a malignant brain tumor. One being her young soul sista, 15 year old, Dainere Anthoney. To honor their memories and save herself from sinking in grief, Sarah hatched the idea of creating a unique charity event – Brainstorm for a Cure.
Brainstorm for a Cure, is a unique gala fundraising event. It’s a “Party for HOPE”.
Aussie rock legends, Baby Animals, headlined last year’s party and in 2014, Australian pop artist, Timomatic brought the Arena alive bringing everyone to their feet on the dance floor. This year we are excited that Cure Brain Cancer Foundation’s, Brainstorm for a Cure, proudly supported by Macquarie Group has Australian rock legends, Hoodoo Gurus, performing as our headline act.
The night will include a Major Auction, Silent Auction, Raffle and Lucky Dip Brain Bags. Items on offer will include anything from money can’t buy personal experiences, national and international holidays, sporting and celebrity memorabilia, and other popular goods and services.
Brainstorm for a Cure’s, Party for HOPE, has raised much needed awareness in the Canberra community and over $300,000 in funds for vital brain cancer research.
Our aim in 2016 is to raise $250,000, which will bring our total to over half a million dollars. Money raised will go to research into the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in Australia.
